On 20 April 2007, the guild masters of KAOS had announced the end of KAOS’ involvement in Balder’s WoE. With KAOS effectively out of the WoE scene, mRO Balder (or maybe mRO itself) shall now experience, for the first time ever, a WoE where KAOS will be “totally nonexistent”. What difference would it make in mRO WoE or even mRO, since now KAOS is out of the picture?
One thing for sure, the more recent alliance that was formed to rival KAOS (allegedly), MEGA-NEO, will find that their main obstacle of obtaining the first level 100 castle in mRO Balder has been removed, and it is now possible for them to finally achieve that objective after so long. And since MEGA-NEO might be focusing on defending Honglou until it matured, the other castles would be fertile grounds (??) for other guilds to try their luck and get themselves a level 100 castle of their own, given they had sacrificed enough to make it possible.
On the other side of the coin, however, one is forced to recall that this would also signal the beginning of the inevitable: the decay and eventual demise of mRO Balder.
One might ask, why the pessimism? After all, there’s still MEGA-NEO that is still as intimidating as KAOS (in a way), and there’s still ROME as well as other active guilds in WoE (e.g. guilds with a more complete roster of classes, not just solo Assassin Crosses breaking emperiums).
I don’t know about mRO Chaos and mRO Lidia previously, but being one from mRO Loki, I can say that the mRO Loki’s eventual demise (which would then led it to merge with other mRO servers to become mRO Balder) started with the server’s major guilds stepping down and stepping out of the server (and the game itself) while citing numerous reasons for it. As a matter of fact, when Loki officially closed down, the DORC-Mantin-HRV/ES alliance (there’s another guild, but I forgot… since I was with Companions-AmazingEmpire alliance then) were probably the largest alliance left at that time.
However, there’s no point crying over spilled milk. The wheels have been turned, and the clock has started ticking. The demise of mRO is imminent (we’ve been through this issue some gazillion times already!), and we the ones left in mRO will just have to live with it, or leave the scene as well. The population stands at an average of 800+ users at any point of time, and I expect it to dwindle further when the new free-to-play servers opened soon.
Maybe it’s time for me to start packing up and leave, either for another server or for good, too? Enjoy the videos!
